Behind the Vision

The music you hear is real. So is the story behind it.

The Catalyst...

I Wasn’t Prepared

I spent twenty-five years building a career that ended with a single word: “Bye.” No warning. No backup plan. Just a door closed in my face.

Then the floor fell out. My grandmother passed at 104 years old. I knew she wouldn’t live forever, but the reality was… I wasn’t prepared. Losing the matriarch of my family wasn’t just grief. It was a total loss of direction. I didn’t know how to exist in a world where she wasn’t the anchor.

In the silence of a room that wasn’t mine, with a journal that held the only parts of me I had left, I realized I was done waiting for a seat at someone else’s table.

I had to build my own.

The music you hear is real. So is the story behind it.

Reclaiming My Voice...

I traded my voice for a safety that didn’t exist.

When I moved from Ohio to Georgia in 2014, I made a choice that I am still reckoning with. I left my music behind. I believed that to survive as the woman I needed to be, the music had to stay in the rearview mirror. I spent years in survival mode, shrinking myself to fit into rooms that were never built for me. I accepted less than I was worth because I was too afraid to walk away.

When the weight of that life finally broke me, I found myself navigating the pieces alone. My marriage hit a season of profound disconnection. I had to face the wreckage without the one I thought was there for it all. By 2026, the lesson was clear. My career in IT was over. The industry had shifted, and there was no seat left at that table for me. I realized that if I didn’t stop being quiet, I was going to disappear entirely.

I chose to stop trying to convince people I was enough and started building a world where I didn’t have to ask for permission. Sonae’ is the sound of my healing. Whatever life looks like on the other side of this is finally up to me.

The Architecture: Sonae'...

I am not a group. I am a reclamation.

I spent years in IT, managing systems, data, and applications. When the industry shifted and the landscape I knew was rewritten without me, I didn’t just walk away; I used that expertise to build a bridge back to the music I left behind.

I chose the name Sonae’ as a deliberate derivation of Sonar. In the deep, sonar is how you locate what is hidden or lost in the dark. But I didn’t want to just find my voice; I wanted to amplify it. I took that root and engineered it into something new. Sonae’ is the technical blueprint of my own reconstruction.

Because some truths are too layered for one voice to carry, I built four distinct facets of this identity. Each represents a specific part of the woman I had to reclaim:

  • Coda: The final resolution. She is the voice at the end of the old cycle.
  • Lyric: The translator. She turns the noise into a language I can finally speak.
  • Cadence: The pulse. She is the rhythm that keeps me from spiraling.
  • Remi: The Architect. She brings the 25 years of technical expertise required to build this new existence.

The Arrival...

Sonae’ is not a comeback. It is an evolution.

This is the result when I stopped seeking permission or acceptance and started building. This is what happens when you stop asking for a seat and start constructing your own table. I am done trying to fit into industries that have no space for me. I am trading the “safe” path for the foundation of a life built on my own terms.

I am no longer waiting for the world to catch up. I am building the world I deserve. This lane belongs to me, and the music is the proof that I am finally standing on my own two feet.

The silence is over. The construction has begun.
